This is what makes a new book about women in. The Girls of Riyadh is a fascinating look at contemporary Saudi culture from the perspectives of 5 young women. Girls of Riyadh (بنات الرياض) is an Arabic novel written by a young Saudi female author about four girls living in the capital of Saudi and their attempts to find love in there. Saudi society is very conservative, especially where it comes to the treatment and permitted social roles of women. This week finally I finished the book. Managed to read it in between work (thank god didn't get caught by boss). Girls of Riyadh tells the story of four college-age high class friends in Saudi Arabia, girls looking for love but stymied by a system that allows them only limited freedoms and has very specific expectations and demands. The novel created quite a noise here in the Middle East.
